Our Projects

Touches Magazine

Touches magazine is part of an information service provided within the social rehabilitation of persons with deafblindness to help them to overcome the information and communication barriers. Touches magazine is published four times a year (spring, summer, autumn and winter) in an enlarged large print, Braille, as audio recording (MP3 format on CD-ROM) or in an electronic form (doc or PDF). Touches provide information about activities of LORM organization, news from events in the Czech Republic and abroad,  developments in the socio-legal area including columns such as Health, Hobbies etc. The magazine is a unique place where deafblind people can express themselves through any piece of writing – poems, short stories, reports, news or favorite recipes.

Hieronymus LORM Art Award

The art competition for the Deafblind is inspired by the international Helen Keller Art Award, announced by the Scottish organization for the Deafblind Sense Scotland. The aim of the project is to motivate people with deafblindness to a playful creativity, provide them opportunity for the presentation of their unique works and promote mutual meeting of deafblind persons with the public. It has two categories – literature (poetry and prose) and art.

Lormolympics

Sports competition for the Deafblind, which aims to provide an opportunity for people with deafblindness to develop their sports interests and skills. The competition promotes social interaction between deafblind people and helps to remove their communication barriers.

LORM Library

LORM Library is the only comprehensive source of expert information on deafblindness in the Czech Republic. It contributes significantly to the raise of awareness of deafblindness and it serves as an important information source for deafblind people, their family members and other interested people.

Development of Tactile Sign Language

The project is part of the social rehabilitation of persons with deafblindness and it´s goal is to develop tactile sign language for the deafblind. In western and northern Europe deafblind people communicate largely in tactile sign language. In the Czech Republic  the development of this communication system did not receive sufficient attention. Therefore in 2004 LORM launched a collaboration with Eva Souralová, Ph.D. and her team of experts from the Institute of Special Pedagogic Studies at Palacky University in Olomouc and from the Pedagogical Faculty of Masaryk University in Brno, to implement the tactile sign language for the Deafblind to life.
